Frequently asked questions.

The practical stuff before you borrow or list.

Do I get charged when I send a request?

No. Requests are free - you aren’t charged until the owner accepts. Curators see who’s asking before anything moves, and you can sort out timing in chat first.

What if I break something?

Tell your curator: accidents are part of gear that actually gets used. Pickup and return photos document the condition on both ends, so there’s no he-said-she-said. Nothing is held up front: if something genuinely breaks, the owner submits a real repair or replacement receipt and your card on file covers it, only ever up to the damage cap posted on the listing. Normal wear never counts.

What does Cache take if I list my gear?

You keep 90% of every rental; Cache takes 10%. No listing fees, no hidden cuts - you see the split before you post. You approve every request, and two weekend bookings a month is about $162.

Where is Cache live?

You can list and browse from anywhere in the U.S. Inventory is strongest in San Diego today and grows city by city. Listings show the neighborhood so you know how far the gear is before you request.
